Stanley Cosgrove

Between 1935 and 1937, Stanley Cosgrove studied at the Montreal School of Fine Arts under Henri Charpentier. In 1938 he studied at the Montreal Art Association with Edwin Holgate. Cosgrove lived in New York in 1939 and then worked from 1939 to 1943 in Mexico City, where he studied fresco painting with Jose Clemente Orozco. Cosgrove's style remains influenced by Orozco in his use of burnt reds and ochres.
