Robert Gallon was a landscape and coastal painter who lived in St John’s Wood London. He travelled extensively throughout the British Isles to paint his subjects, which included recognized views of England, Scotland and Wales.

Gallon’s paintings can vary greatly in style, ranging from broad, loose brush strokes to extremely delicate textures. Gallon painted in a realistic style similar to that of Benjamin Williams Leader and George Vicat Cole. Gallon actively exhibited during the years 1868 - 1903 at the principal London Galleries, particularly the Royal Academy and the Royal Society of British Artists.
