Ivan Trevor Wheale (Canadian, contemporary) Ivan Wheale was born in Sunderland, England in 1934. Self-taught, he became interested in painting at the age of fifteen when he work in watercolour. In 1956 he turned to oil painting. Wheale came to Canada in 1957 settling in Sudbury. There he began to exhibit and has staged more than 85 solo and group exhibitions. He currently lives and works on Manitoulin Island.
