The subject of this bronze was the Hungarian horse "Kincsem", the unbeaten winner of over fifty important races including the Oaks, Derby, and Goodwood Cups in the 1850's in England, France and Austria. She was internationally renowned for being "long as a boat" and collcted prizes "as if it were a hobby and a habit to do so." There is a bronze statue of Kincsem in the Newmarket Horse Racing Musuem in England. Hungary issued a set of national postage stamps in the champion's honor.
